His poetry draws inspiration from personal experiences to those experiences of people around him. According to dictionary.com “Hell Is a Woman Scorned” is a proverb adapted from a line in the play The Mourning Bride, by William Congreve, an English author of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. The expression is interpreted to mean that no one is as angry as a woman who has been romantically rejected or betrayed. Modise uses this premise to highlight the illtreatment of women in many relationships. He then paints over those negatives when the second phase of his poem focuses on the countless consequences of pure unwavering love & the beauty it brings out in women.
Modise’s poem makes it as this Womens’ Month #PoemOfTheMonth, celebrating all the women in our lives. As you listen to it, we hope it will remind you how important the women in our lives are. Treat them right and give them the love they deserve.
