The Art of Gratitude with Diteboho

It took us a couple of years to finally hear the recorded version of the long awaited composition of Diteboho, named after the artist’s stage name ‘Diteboho’. Over time we’ve had the honour of witnessing the live rendition of this original masterpiece in different creative spaces, alongside his musical peers and in some instances as a solo act.

Teboho ‘Diteboho’ Kobedi is a singer, songwriter and Pianist who hails from the streets of Sekobeng in the Vaal Triangle. His passion began at a tender age where he sang and played Piano for his church choir, and then later springboarded into the Jazz scene after meeting the likes of Lehlogonolo who is a renowned saxophonist.

Last year in the midst of a tragedy struck world caused by COVID-19, he released his debut single to remind us about the importance of gratitude for life, family and music. Fused with elements of Jazz and Hip hop, the song’s sound stems from his frequent collaboration with Lehlogonolo whose background is a product of the two genres. With supporting vocals from Rorisang Sechele and production from Thato Modika also known as Phonikz, the record encapsulates the creativity of three artistic minds whose talents complement each other perfectly.

Teboho also worked as a music instructor and educator for numerous institutions. He acquired his Btech qualification in Jazz and popular music at the Tshwane University of Technology, he has also been accepted into the Masters postgraduate program.

He says he’s currently working on a collaborative duo project with Phonikz. The two go by the name of Invocation, a collaboration that comes from their close relationship. He is also planning on releasing a solo debut project later in the year. Teboho is also one of the selected creatives to be part of the New Age Artistry’s “Matter – Of Time” music initiative which launched in 2021in partnership with ubiquity(u.creativespace).
